EDGED-IMPACT WEAPON SYSTEM
CLOSE-QUARTERS COMBAT/CQC
HISTORY
Survival Edge Systems is the recognized leading authority
in specialized Close–Quarters Combat/CQC programs with
Edged, Impact, and Firearms weaponry for military special
operations forces worldwide. Grand Tuhon Leo T. Gaje, Jr.
is recognized worldwide as the leading authority on Edged-Impact
weaponry and the Filipino Martial Arts and has pioneered the
formulation of advanced Close Quarters Combat, Defensive Tactics
and Operator/Officer survival skills for the military and
law enforcement professional for more than four decades.
As in yesteryear when the Filipino instructed famous US military
special operations units of WWII including the Marine Raiders,
Army Alamo Scouts, and engaged in successful guerrilla warfare
against the Japanese invaders by battalions armed with the
Bolo, the Filipino fighting man is recognized as the military
Master of the Blade. The superiority of the Filipino close-quarter
combat systems and skills in modern combat has been documented
and continually validated for the past century; from the revolt
and declaration of independence from Spain in 1898, through
the early resistance to American colonization, to the successful
Guerrilla campaigns against the Japanese in WWII, and against
Communist and Moro rebels and terrorists today.
The Military Edged-Impact Weapon System/CQC of Pekiti-Tirsia
is certified as official warfighting doctrine of the Armed
Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and is currently in use by
allied forces in operations against insurgents and terrorists
in the southern Philippines and Southeast-Asia in the Global
War on Terrorism. The Pekiti-Tirsia system has continued to
prove it’s superiority today against other military
close-quarter combative methods including the US Marine Corps
Martial Art Program (MCMAP), SCARS method of US Navy SEALS,
the LINE method of US Army Special Forces, and a multitude
of methods from other SOF’s from around the world.
FORMULIZATION
The sword, dagger, knife, and other edged weapons are the
universal symbol of elite special operations forces worldwide.
The Pekiti-Tirsia Military Edged-Impact Weapon System/CQC
is the only system in existence today that fully integrates
individual combat weaponry (Bolo, Knife, Bayonet), Empty-Hands
combat, and Firearms employment through the application of
the same tactical techniques - the system of the Edged Weapon.
Domination and termination of enemy combatants at close-quarters
range is accomplished by the strategic application of edged
weapon tactics, techniques, and principles with all personal
and field expedient weapons. Mastery of all weapons is accomplished
through application of fluid, dynamic training drills, tactical
exercises, and force on force scenarios. Training is conducted
with all weapons and equipment utilized on missions in operational
environments.
The total mental and physical conditioning skills that operators
train to employ edged-impact weapons and firearms in close-quarters
combat produces the THE STRATEGIC ADVANTAGE for combat survival.
TRAINING METHODOLOGY
The most strategic training methodology for CQC is the utilization
of edged weaponry. The edged weapon produces the highest level
of fear and psychological intimidation than any other weapon
at close range. Mastery of edged weapons and this system will
develop:
1) The highest levels of confidence, skill, and professionalism
in the operator.
2) Complete confidence in the use and employment of all personal
weapons.
3) The ability to act and react decisively in a close-quarters
combat engagement.
Training programs incorporates both aerobic and anaerobic
exercises and drills that provide enhanced upper and lower
body muscular endurance and combat fitness for the operator.
Training begins with the development of proper body mechanics
and gross motor skills through footwork and basic techniques.
All weapon systems then accelerate to two-man technique application
drills and multiple combatant scenarios.
These drills, exclusive to the Edged-Impact Weapon System,
prepare operators to immediately attack or counter attack
with any and all weapons for immediate termination and destruction
of enemy forces in close-quarters combat.
INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT
Professional Instructor development is highly encouraged
for operators and units. Through the conduct of periodic system
and skills re-qualification instructors maintain operator
competency and combat readiness.
Completion of a CQC Instructors program will enable the operator
to:
1) Analyze any CQC tactic, technique, and procedure for operational
applicability and effectiveness.
2) Develop dynamic CQC training drills and exercises for
any task or mission.
3) Conduct safe and realistic tactical training programs
for operational units.
CERTIFICATION
Military Edged-Impact Weapon System/CQC program completion
includes individual operator certification. Each operator
receives a course manual with complete system Program of Instruction
(POI’s).
Officers with demonstrated advanced proficiency may be selected
to become Certified Instructors. System knowledge and proficiency
is evaluated with additional training in instructional methodology,
system training protocols, performance assessment, and tactical
scenario conduct and safety.
SUPPORT SERVICES
Survival Edge Systems staff instructors and special advisors
remain dedicated to operator and unit performance and ultimate
success and survival on the battlefield. Research with new
weaponry and other technical innovations affecting the combat
environment is continually accomplished. Survival Edged Systems
has the capability to provide training and instruction for
combat operations throughout the entire spectrum of conflict
and war.
